Case overview
A mining company has many employees and work shifts to achieve the desired production targets.
The common problems faced by our clients in mining are predictive maintenance and weather forecasting to support mining activities.
Creating dashboards is also very important to understand past, present, and future business conditions.
The Brief
A well-known coal mining company in Indonesia is facing issues such as coal theft from trucks that are supposed to transport coal. Additionally, the company also wants to know the weather conditions for the next month as a factor that will determine the mobilization of workers and equipment in the mine. Moreover, there is a need to know the market price of coal and also implement predictive maintenance.
Our Approach
We provide the best solutions for every need of the coal mining company, starting with a system to analyze fraudulent activities/theft of coal. We assist the company in collecting data from truck drivers and also the loading and unloading activities of trucks at the mine.
We install cameras and a recognition system to identify license plates and the respective drivers. Using this method, we successfully detect dishonest dump truck drivers and provide the data to our customers for appropriate actions.
This data is presented in real-time using Power BI dashboards and monitored by the Operational Manager. Additionally, for weather forecasting, we help the company obtain weather data for several months ahead using our Web Crawling technology. This is also useful for analyzing the market price of coal, which can be presented in dashboard form to relevant users.
Regarding predictive maintenance, we collaborate with the company to gather equipment maintenance history and seek assistance from manufacturers to predict when equipment is likely to fail and what spare parts need to be prepared before such incidents occur.
The Results
It’s great to hear that our collaboration has yielded such positive results for our customer. The issue of coal theft has been eliminated, and operations are running smoothly according to plan with the weather data we provide.
The company has achieved the most optimal and competitive coal prices, leading to an increase in sales volume and price.
Predictive maintenance has proven to be highly beneficial in preventing downtime for vital equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, and others. This proactive approach ensures continuous operations and minimizes disruptions.
